Years ago, a dear friend gave me this poem as a good-bye gift when she left the federal agency where I worked. Periodically, I would read it, do some “wishful thinking”, sigh, and then put my nose back on that old grindstone. You see, I had an affliction called “the Golden Handcuffs”—a well-paying, very secure job with great benefits where I had worked for almost 13 years since receiving my Master’s degree. However, it was slowly sucking the joy of life out of me. Instead of working to live, I was only living to work. I lived 50 miles from my job and would wake up at 4:30 a.m. to leave the house before 5:30 a.m. I was exhausted by the time I arrived home at night and had little time for anything except to get ready for the next day. That was my existence for several years, and it took its toll. Then, one day, it was as if I woke up out of a coma and asked myself, “What do I want?” That was the first day of the rest of my life. And, it can be for you as well. Life Transformation Coaching is about discovering who you are, what is important to you, and what dreams are beckoning you. It is about making clear, conscious choices and connecting with your “future self.” My coaching is based on the co-active model—seeing you as the client as naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. I come alongside as your companion on this journey, not as “the expert” to tell you what to do. The focus of our work is on your agenda and the future of your dreams, not some formula or cookie-cutter approach.
